Katies Cares and Coffe is home to some of Northern Virginia’s most desirable exotic cars. It is also open to a bunch of car lovers which huge hearts.
A massive turn out of cars surprised Dr. Art Pilla after daughter’s heartfelt post to the Katies Cars and Coffee Facebook group:
Katies Cars and Coffee would like to request you to take your exotic car, your antique, your tuner, your one off, your bike... your pride and joy for a “Drive By” for Dr. Art Pilla, an 80 year old car fanatic and race car driver who is home on hospice. Mr. Pilla’s passion is cars and his daughter Astrid, has asked for the communities help in making Dr. Pilla’s dream of cars a reality this Saturday.
“Hello, I have a special request for a very special person: My father, Dr. Art Pilla, just turned 80 and is currently in hospice care at my home just down the street from Katie’s. My father is a former semi pro racer (HSR in his 935, he’s driven the 24 Hrs of Daytona a few times in his 911, he’s raced Sebring, Watkins Glen, Breckenridge- you name it he’s raced it. He is also a high performance driving instructor with the Porsche Club. He has been a car enthusiast since I was a little girl and he got me into racing and instructing as well.
My request is simple: Could you ask anyone who might be at Cars n Coffee this weekend who might be interested to drive by our home at 9am on Saturday, after cars n coffee? Basically, on their way home to drive by. I will have my father outside in a wheel chair as he spends his final good days, weeks, months I am not sure how long- with us.
If we can organize this it would be so special for him. Thank you for considering sending out the word.
We live on a cul-de-sac right next to Forestville elementary: 1005 Shallow Creek Place. I can’t take my father to Cars n Coffee anymore, so I thought I’d try and get some Cars n Coffee friends to swing by... Thank you!

Please support this car lover’s daughter and drive by this Saturday following our weekly Cars and Coffee gathering. It wouldn’t be out of the way and it’d mean a great deal.
Please - if you can’t make it, spread the word to at least one driver who can. It’d mean the world to Astrid and her father as well as to us!
As always - please be respectful of the neighbors and the noise ordinances. This is a quiet drive past a home on a cul-de-sac (think slow parade) of vehicles and is not intended to be a burnout strip / drift course. Just quietly parade along to the address listed and then head out towards your respective destinations from there.
This event is unorganized outside of the event page, so there is no official group leaving Katies - feel free to organize your own.
